We get asked this a lot: "What tech stack should I use for my project?" It's usually the wrong first question.

Before you pick React vs Vue, or Postgres vs MongoDB, you need to answer three things that actually matter: what does this product need to do in 12 months, who's going to maintain it, and how fast do you need to ship?

Start With the Problem, Not the Framework

Every stack decision should trace back to a business constraint. A weekend MVP that needs to validate an idea with 50 users has completely different requirements to a platform that needs to handle regulated financial data for 10,000 businesses. We've built both, and the tooling looks nothing alike.

If you pick the trendiest framework because a blog post told you to, you inherit its learning curve, its hiring pool, and its long-term support risk — whether or not your project actually needs what it offers.

Three Questions We Ask Every Client

1. Who maintains this after launch? If it's a solo founder or small internal team, boring, well-documented, widely-adopted tech beats cutting-edge every time. Novelty is a cost you pay in every future hire and every 2am bug.

2. What's your real time-to-market? Full custom builds give you total control but take longer. A managed platform with the right integrations can get you live in weeks — sometimes that speed matters more than architectural purity.

3. What compliance and data requirements are non-negotiable? GDPR, data residency, audit trails — these constraints often decide your stack before performance or developer preference even enter the conversation. We build GDPR compliance in from day one rather than bolting it on later, because retrofitting it is always more expensive.

Our Approach

At PMD Services we don't have a house stack we push on every client. We've shipped full-stack PWAs (BuildMe Pro Gold+, ValueMe Pro Gold+, ChangingRoom PMD) using modern frameworks with real-time data, AI integrations, and payment processing — and we've also recommended clients stick with a simpler setup when the fancy version wasn't going to earn its complexity.

The right stack is the one that gets your specific product live, stays maintainable by the team you actually have, and doesn't lock you into a corner you'll regret in 18 months.

Need a Second Opinion?

If you're staring down a technical stack decision and want an outside, no-agenda perspective, that's exactly the kind of advisory work we do. Rapid MVP development, full-stack architecture, and technical stack selection consultation are core parts of what we offer at PMD Services.
